1. Licence
IvyKey is proprietary software of VNET LIMITED ("we"), which owns the copyright. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the software on devices you own or control. Except as applicable law expressly permits, you may not copy, modify, distribute, rent or sublicense the software, or decompile or reverse-engineer it.
If you obtained the software from an app store (App Store, Google Play, Microsoft Store), that store's terms also apply; where these terms conflict with the store's terms, whichever is more favourable to you prevails. Purchases and refunds of paid features follow the rules of the store you bought from.
Third-party components included in the software are provided under their own licences; see the About page.
2. No warranty and limitation of liability
The software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from the use of or inability to use the software, including loss of data. This does not affect rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be excluded by contract.
3. Things you need to know and accept
- No recovery service. Your master password is never stored or uploaded. If you forget it and lose your recovery key, your data is permanently unrecoverable and the developers cannot help.
- Backups are your responsibility. Data lives only on your devices. Hardware failure, loss, formatting, uninstalling the app or clearing its data will lose local data; only backups you exported and kept safely can restore it.
- Security has limits. The software cannot protect a compromised device (malware, keyloggers, someone with administrator access). Known residual risks are listed in section 12 of the user guide and in
SECURITY.md. - Independent audit. Versions released before an independent security audit are for testing only and must not be used for real passwords.
- Lawful use. Use the software only for accounts and information you are entitled to manage.
4. Data and privacy
See the Privacy Policy. The software collects no data.
5. Changes
Changes to these terms ship with new versions and are noted in the release notes.
